What we look for on a CPU.
What to photograph on a processor
The lid (integrated heat spreader) of every Intel Xeon is laser-etched with the model name and a five-character spec code — SRGZG on a Xeon Gold 6248R, for example, or SRF8W on a Gold 6230. The spec code is the part number: it distinguishes a retail chip from an OEM tray part and one stepping from another, and it is what we price against. AMD EPYC lids carry the model (7543, 9354) and an OPN string beginning with 100-000000. Photograph the lid straight on, in good light, with the etching readable.
Do not touch the pins or the LGA pads on the underside; a photo of the top is enough. If the CPU is still in a server, the model is also on the BIOS screen and on the host label, but the lid is what we read.
What drives the price of a used CPU
Generation and core count. Third- and fourth-generation Xeon Scalable (Ice Lake 83xx, Sapphire Rapids 84xx) and AMD EPYC Milan and Genoa (7003, 9004) carry the highest prices; second-generation Cascade Lake Gold and Platinum parts (62xx, 82xx, the R refresh) are still in demand for upgrades; first-generation Skylake and Xeon E5 v4 sell in volume for less. Within a generation, higher core counts and clock speeds price higher, and the R-suffix refresh parts price above the originals.
Condition is simple: no bent pads, no thermal paste bridging the contacts, no missing lid. Pairs of identical CPUs pulled from one dual-socket host earn a small premium because a buyer can populate both sockets from one lot.

How to pack a CPU
Put each processor in its clamshell, or wrap it in anti-static foam with the contact side protected, and pad the box so nothing moves. Do not tape directly to the lid. A small USPS Priority box holds a dozen CPUs. Lots over 100 units get a call from us and prepaid freight.

Which CPUs are worth selling?
Intel Xeon Scalable (Silver, Gold, Platinum from 1st to 5th gen), Xeon E5 v3/v4, Xeon W, and every AMD EPYC generation. Older Xeon E5 v1/v2 and desktop chips sell, but for little — bundle them with other parts.
Should I send the heatsink or the motherboard too?
Just the CPU, in its clamshell or a padded container with the pins protected. Heatsinks and boards are welcome but priced separately; mention them in the notes and we will add lines to the offer.
How do you price my parts?
Off the part number and quantity against what the same part is selling for this week. You get a line-item offer by email, valid 10 business days. No obligation.
Do I pay for shipping?
Yes — you ship it to us. A USPS Priority flat-rate box fits ~40 DIMMs or a dozen SSDs. Anti-static bags help; bubble wrap is fine.
When do I get paid?
PayPal, the same business day your box arrives and we confirm the count. Most sellers see the money within 3–5 days of accepting the offer.
What if something doesn't match the offer?
We tell you exactly what differs (wrong capacity, dead stick) and send a revised line before paying. You can decline and we ship it back at our cost.
Does the data on my SSDs get wiped?
Every drive is NIST 800-88 wiped or shredded on intake. We can email a certificate of destruction for your lot on request.
