What we look for on a memory stick.
What to photograph on a memory stick
Every server DIMM carries a white or silver label with the manufacturer part number — the string that identifies the stick completely. On a Samsung module it starts with M393 (RDIMM), M386 (LRDIMM) or M378 (UDIMM); on SK Hynix it starts with HMA or HMC; on Micron with MTA. One clear, straight-on photo of that label is all we need to price the stick, because the part number already encodes capacity, speed, rank and voltage.
If the label is scuffed, photograph the other side too: the PCB usually has a second sticker with the same code, and the speed grade is printed on the chips themselves. Server OEM labels (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco) sit on top of the manufacturer label and carry their own part number — photograph both if you can, but the manufacturer code is the one that sets the price.
What drives the price of used server RAM
Capacity and generation matter most: 32GB and 64GB DDR4 RDIMMs at 2666, 2933 and 3200 MT/s are the bulk of what data centers still buy, so they hold value best. DDR5 RDIMMs (4800 and 5600) are the highest per-stick prices we pay today. 8GB and 16GB DDR4 sticks and all DDR3 move in volume at lower unit prices — worth selling in lots rather than one at a time.
Rank and class change the number too. A 2Rx4 RDIMM fits more servers than a 4Rx4 LRDIMM at the same capacity, so it usually prices higher; SODIMM and desktop UDIMM sit below both. Matching kits — 8, 16 or 24 identical sticks pulled from one host — earn a small premium because a buyer can populate a server without mixing lots.

How to pack memory for shipping
Anti-static bags are ideal but not required; the original plastic trays or a layer of bubble wrap around each bundle of sticks is fine. Keep sticks from rubbing edge-to-edge and fill the box so nothing shifts. A USPS Priority medium flat-rate box holds about forty DIMMs. Lots over 100 sticks get a call from us and prepaid freight.

Do you buy DDR3 or desktop memory?
Yes. DDR3 ECC and DDR4/DDR5 desktop UDIMM and laptop SODIMM are worth less per stick than server RDIMMs, so they make more sense in lots of ten or more. We price them the same way — by part number and count.
Do I need to test the RAM first?
No. Tell us what you know (pulled from a working host, untested, or known bad) in the notes. Sticks that fail our test are priced separately or returned at our cost — you will never be paid less than the offer without an itemised reason.
How do you price my parts?
Off the part number and quantity against what the same part is selling for this week. You get a line-item offer by email, valid 10 business days. No obligation.
Do I pay for shipping?
Yes — you ship it to us. A USPS Priority flat-rate box fits ~40 DIMMs or a dozen SSDs. Anti-static bags help; bubble wrap is fine.
When do I get paid?
PayPal, the same business day your box arrives and we confirm the count. Most sellers see the money within 3–5 days of accepting the offer.
What if something doesn't match the offer?
We tell you exactly what differs (wrong capacity, dead stick) and send a revised line before paying. You can decline and we ship it back at our cost.
Does the data on my SSDs get wiped?
Every drive is NIST 800-88 wiped or shredded on intake. We can email a certificate of destruction for your lot on request.
